We booked Matt from HP Gaming/HP GameMasters to run a three-hour D&D one-shot for my son's 13th birthday, with six very excited teenagers, most of whom were completely new to D&D. He was absolutely brilliant.

From the moment he arrived, he had them. He brought incredible physical terrain for the castle, dungeon and dragon lair, plus miniatures for their characters and the monsters they encountered—including a Mimic and the final Black Dragon. It made the whole adventure feel incredibly immersive.

What impressed me most, though, was how well Matt handled the kids. He was funny, patient and completely unflappable, while still keeping six excited teens focused and moving through the campaign. Very early on, Matt announced that an imposing figure had stormed through a door. Our Bard immediately declared, “I vomit on his feet!” Without missing a beat, Matt replied, “You may, but it depends on your Constitution check.” 🤣 From that point, they were completely invested.

The pacing across the three hours was excellent. Everyone got moments to shine, the adventure reached a proper conclusion, and Matt even seamlessly worked around me feeding the six hungry adventurers chicken karaage bowls!

They defeated the Black Dragon, won their gold—and by the end, my son (and his friends) was already asking whether they could turn the group into an ongoing campaign.

I couldn't recommend Matt highly enough, particularly for teenagers or players new to D&D. He turned what I hoped would be a fun birthday activity into the absolute centrepiece of a fantastic day. We would book him again in a heartbeat.

Matt was our DM for a very special 4-hour one shot. Absolutely incredible time. Our group has been playing DnD together for years and this was such a great addition as a very special occasion. I can’t do the session justice in a Google Review. Thank you Matt, what a craft. I cannot recommend Matt more highly. Phenomenal.
